When is the Best Time to Get an HVAC Cleaning?

Regular HVAC cleaning of your system is an important part of the maintenance of your home. It should be done by a professional at least once a year, but there are optimum times for having the work completed.

The first thing to think about is how often you need to have your ducts cleaned. This can depend to a large extent on the area of the country in which you live. Those in arid climates with a lot of dust will likely require cleanings more often.

In an ideal world, cleaning your HVAC system twice a year would be reasonable. Once in the spring and once in the fall. The reality is that you probably don’t need biannual cleanings and that once a year might suffice under normal conditions.

The arrival of the springtime months is a good time to have your system cleaned and serviced. For starters, your system is about to face the brutal temperatures of June, July, and August. Your system works harder during these months than it does the rest of the year. Cleaning right before the temperatures climb means that your unit will be functioning at an optimum level.

According to some physicians, the spring season is the best for HVAC cleaning because it brings the arrival of allergy season. This is especially true if someone in your home has asthma or other breathing issues.

You might also want to think about having an HVAC cleaned before the winter sets in. This is especially true if you live in a colder climate. Efficient heating of your home is just as important as cooling.

To be honest, the best time to get your HVAC cleaned is when your system needs to be cleaned. There are signs your ducts needs cleaning. Learn to recognize the signs and take action when necessary.

Just remember that getting it done is the ultimate priority. The timing is second to your commitment to have your HVAC system maintained.
